U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) today issued the following statement opposing President Obama's nomination of Ron Binz to be Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Committee (FERC). The nominee would go before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
"The Obama administration has been on a witch hunt to shut down hydraulic fracturing, and unfortunately this nominee fits in with that crowd," Vitter said. "There has been such positive progress with natural gas -- clearly the brightest spot in our otherwise slumping economy -- so as long as Ron Binz remains opposed to developing our nation's natural gas and fossil fuels, I'll be opposing his nomination. I would encourage Sen. Landrieu, a member of the Energy committee, to stand for Louisiana jobs and oppose the nomination, and not let Washington insiders convince her otherwise."
