Congressman Chaka Fattah (PA-02) the senior Democrat on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and relatedagencies, which includes NASA, released the following statement regarding today's launch of the Cygnus spacecraft to the International Space Station:

"Today's Cygnus launch is a signal of immense progress for American commercial spaceflight. A successful docking of the Cygnus spacecraft will significantly expand the United States' capacity to transport supplies to the International Space Station.

"This demonstration mission is a further testament of NASA's commitment to growing and strengthening its ties with the commercial spaceflight industry in order to remain a world leader in space exploration."
