U.S. Senator Mark Begich was pleased to join Sen. Lisa Murkowski and his Senate colleagues today to support the passage of the High Technology Jobs Preservation Act, legislation which protects U.S. manufacturing and research and includes a provision to reauthorize funding for the Secure Rural Schools (SRS) program.
"The passage of this bill ensures that rural school districts will be able to plan for the coming school year and make investments in education for the next generation of Alaskans," said Sen. Begich. "Sen. Murkowski and I worked together to ensure that the Secure Rural Schools Program was included in the legislation because we agree there is no higher priority than providing quality education for Alaskans."
The bill passed the Senate with a vote of 97-2.
