Rep. Israel's Statement After Listening to President Obama's Speech

Statement

Date: Sept. 10, 2013
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Tonight, Rep. Israel released the following statement following President Obama's speech on the situation in Syria:

"As a father, when I watched the videos of innocent children being gassed, it helped persuade me of the need to stop such atrocities and prevent this threat to our national security. I've posted those videos on my website for my constituents to see for themselves. I truly hope that the Russian proposal to stop this from happening again is legitimate. I believe the Administration has an obligation to vet it. If it is credible, there should be no military strike. If it isn't, we must degrade and deter further use of those weapons, without boots on the ground and in a limited, focused and swift way."
