Buono Statement on Governor Christie's Campaign-Style Advertisements During Re-Election

Statement

Date: May 16, 2013

Democratic gubernatorial candidate and State Senator Barbara Buono released the following statement in response to Governor Christie's appearance in a federally-funded tourism advertisement:

"I'm proud of the way New Jerseyans have come together to rebuild the shore and we should do everything we can to promote tourism this summer. But let's be clear--the hard-working and resilient people who have rebuilt their businesses and homes after Sandy should have been the star of these ads. That Governor Christie would allow $25 million in federally-funded ads to feature him in the middle of an election year is both supremely arrogant and wildly inappropriate."
