House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee member Rep. Leonard Lance (NJ 07) today released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 2775, the "No Subsidies Without Verification Act." The legislation would prohibit federal subsidies for the ObamaCare Exchange from being provided until the independent HHS Inspector General verifies applicants are eligible for the taxpayer-funded subsidies:
"Whether you support or oppose the President's healthcare law Congress has a responsibility to protect taxpayer funds from waste, fraud and abuse. This legislation will hold the federal government accountable and prevent fraud by ensuring only those entitled to ObamaCare subsidies receive them. This is fiscally responsible legislation and I urge the U.S. Senate to join the House and pass the No Subsidies Without Verification Act and protect American taxpayers."
