Alaskan Congressman Don Young released the following statement in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks that occurred 12 years ago today:
"September 11th is a day to honor and remember. We remember those lost in the senseless terrorist attacks on our country and honor the first responders who risked their lives that day and the men and women in uniform who continue to stand guard in defense of freedom and democracy. Today, let us unite as Americans and be thankful for this beautiful country and those that keep it free. I urge all Alaskans to take a few moments to honor those who lost their lives 12 years ago today -- and also say a prayer for our men and women in our armed forces who continue to fight to protect the freedom that we too often take for granted."
