Price Applauds House Action to Keep Government Open, Stop Obamacare

Congressman Tom Price, M.D. (GA-06), vice chairman of the House Committee on the Budget, praised the passage of legislation to fund the government, as well as defund Obamacare, saying:

"House Republicans have produced a common sense approach that would spare the American people the pain and economic damage of Obamacare, while keeping the federal government open.

"It is fundamentally unfair for the Obama Administration to continue to overextend its executive power to pick and choose who must suffer under Obamacare. If the president's health care law isn't right for this administration's allies, if the president has felt compelled to provide relief for big business, then there's no reason the American people should have to face this train wreck. In fact, no one should be subject to a law that drastically increases health care costs, reduces access to coverage and health care choices, disincentivizes innovation, causes an exodus of doctors from the field of medicine, destroys jobs, stunts economic growth, compounds our nation's debt and raises taxes by more than $1 trillion.

"Today's effort proves that there's no interest in and no reason for shutting down the government. Instead, we are committed to doing the will of the people and protecting their health and economic well-being. The House has done its work. It is now time for members of the Senate from both sides of the aisle to heed the will of and work on behalf of the American people."
