Senator Blunt Fights To Protect Table Rock Lake Residents, Businesses From Government Overreach

U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) met today in Washington, D.C. with members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District to discuss Friday's announcement by the Corps claiming they have conducted a legal review of cooperative joint management agreements with non-profit cooperating associations and have suddenly decided that they can no longer keep user fees to maintain parks.

These groups must instead send those fees to the U.S. Treasury, and the Corps must come up with solutions for funding park operations.

"This arbitrary decision is completely unacceptable and is another example of blatant government overreach," Blunt said. "Missouri families and businesses who live, work, and vacation at Table Rock Lake deserve to do so without needless uncertainty. I met with the Little Rock District this week, and I'll continue to stay engaged on this issue until the Corps finds a solution for funding park operations."

The Ozarks Rivers Heritage Foundation (ORHF) entered into a cooperative agreement for management of recreation sites at Table Rock Lake in May of 2011 and extending until 2016. The operating agreement resulted in the leasing of eight campgrounds and public use areas from the Corps by ORHF.
