Webster Statement on Anniversary of 9/11

Statement

Date: Sept. 11, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Representative Daniel Webster (FL-10) issued the following statement in observance of the 12th anniversary of the September 11th attacks:

"Twelve years ago today, the relatively peaceful lives of Americans were brought to a terrifying standstill. Terrorists attacked our cities and institutions, our neighbors, and our American way of life. What was intended to be a day of destruction for America turned into a day in which the world witnessed the character of a people who refused to buckle. Through our faith and commitment to each other, the citizens of this nation stood shoulder-to-shoulder to face down this brutal enemy.

"Today we remember the brave men and women who lost their lives in those tragic attacks, the courageous service members who made the ultimate sacrifice on faraway battlefields, and those who returned home alive but burdened by the scars of war.

"Let us never forget that day and let us renew with great fervor a love for our country and an assurance of our belief that Americans, united around our common values, will never be defeated."
