Following today's release of the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Taskforce's Rebuilding Strategy report, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (NY-12) issued this statement:
"From the moment the storm hit last October it was clear New York City and the region as a whole would need to rebuild smarter and mitigate any future natural disasters. Superstorm Sandy dealt a devastating blow to our country's economic engine. I am glad the Administration is working with state and local officials to provide the flexibility needed to help families and businesses recover from catastrophic damage while investing in resiliency efforts. I would like to thank President Obama for his leadership in creating the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Taskforce, and for his commitment to New York City's and the region's recovery. I would also like to thank the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Taskforce and its chair, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan, for completing this substantive report, which will guide us as we rebuild."
