Dalrymple Recognizes State Employees for Excellence in Public Service

Gov. Jack Dalrymple today congratulated six state employees for receiving the Governor's Award for Excellence in Public Service in recognition of their dedication and contributions to the people of North Dakota. The awards were presented by Lt. Gov. Drew Wrigley during a luncheon at the Capitol in Bismarck, kicking off State Employee Recognition Week.

"North Dakota's state employees are the best in the nation, and these six individuals recognized today represent the outstanding work that is performed by state employees every day across our state," Dalrymple said. "We applaud them for their exemplary service and faithful dedication to North Dakota and its citizens."

Phil Davis was recognized in the Executive and Administration category. He is the customer service area manager for Job Service North Dakota, overseeing operations in Bismarck, Dickinson, Williston, Minot, Beulah and New Town.

Carol Yantzer was recognized in the Professional category. She is a customer service senior consultant for Job Service North Dakota and a unit supervisor in the Bismarck Customer Service Office.

Michelle Grant was recognized in the Technical and Paraprofessional category. She is a senior accounting specialist with North Dakota State University Plant Sciences in Fargo.
Jean Hagen was recognized in the Office Support category. She is an administrative assistant for North Dakota State University Aerospace Studies in Fargo.

Debra Sorenson was recognized in the Services category. She is a coffee barista with North Dakota State University Dining Services in Fargo.

James Weigel was recognized in the Trades and Crafts category. He is a maintenance supervisor with Facility Management, a division of the Office of Management and Budget.
The award recipients were nominated by their peers and selected by a committee of judges who reviewed and scored the nominations. Nominees were rated on their overall job performance, contributions to their department, commitment to customer service, working relationship with fellow workers and involvement in their community.
