Today, Congressman Bill Owens made the following statement on the two year anniversary of Hurricane Irene:
"Two years ago, Hurricane Irene wreaked havoc across New York and the East Coast," Congressman Bill Owens said. "We've come a long way since mudslides carried houses and businesses off their foundations. Though rising water washed away roads and infrastructure, we were undaunted and began rebuilding as soon as the storm passed. Today, we are able to reflect on the spirit of community that carried us through the storm and the work we've done to better prepare for the next one. I will continue working with my colleagues in Congress and leaders at the state and local level to make sure that we continue learning from previous storms and are ready to handle extreme weather."
