Johnson Announces New Resources to Help Consumers Navigate Health Insurance Marketplace

U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) today announced that South Dakota Community Action Partnership and Great Plains Tribal Chairmen's Health Board have been awarded Navigator grants through Health and Human Services. The money from these grants will go toward resources to assist non-insured consumers in selecting and enrolling in the new Health Insurance Marketplace.

"These awards are a big step in helping uninsured South Dakotans navigate the new Health Insurance Marketplace," said Johnson. "The Affordable Care Act has already positively affected thousands of South Dakotans and will only continue to help more folks as implementation continues and the October 1 open enrollment date approaches."

The anticipated grant amount for South Dakota Community Action Partnership is $336,000 and the Great Plains Tribal Chairmen's Health Board is anticipated to receive $264,000. These funds will help South Dakota's 92,441 uninsured consumers prepare applications that will establish eligibility and enrollment coverage through the new Marketplace. They will also provide outreach and education to raise awareness about the Marketplace. More information on enrollment and coverage options can be found at HealthCare.gov.
