Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Votes to Improve Affordable Care Act, Not Delay It

Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) voted today against two bills that would delay of the individual and small business insurance mandates required by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). The Authority for Mandate Delay Act and the Fairness for American Families Act both passed the House today.

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard released the following statement about her votes:

"We were sent to Congress with a clear mandate: to create jobs, improve our economy, and serve our country. Middle-class families, seniors and small business owners continue to be burdened by the rising cost of healthcare. Now is the time for us to find creative ways to improve the ACA, so that all people will have access to quality, affordable healthcare. For example, increasing competitiveness in the health care exchanges to further drive down costs, allowing Medicare to negotiate for much-needed lower prescription drug prices, and ensuring that small businesses are not disproportionately affected by the increased cost of providing healthcare to their employees."
