Boustany Votes for Transparency in Government

Statement

Date: Aug. 2, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after voting for the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, H.R. 367, earlier today:

"Today, I voted to afford Congress the ability to pass or kill regulatory actions with an economic impact of $100 million or more. Rather than allowing that power to rest in the hands of unelected bureaucrats, this bill puts the power in the People's House. Doing so will hold elected officials accountable to the constituencies they represent while also discouraging Congress from rushing through legislation on tough issues. This is a good-government bill promoting transparency, and I am proud to have voted in favor of it."
