Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement marking the one-year anniversary that the Department of Homeland Security began accepting requests for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA):
"One year ago, President Obama gave thousands of young aspiring Americans the opportunity to more fully contribute their talent and education to the country they know and call home. In just one year, over 430,000 requests for deferred action have been approved. Still, this is only a temporary fix for DREAMers and no fix at all for their families. I will continue to work with DREAMers to ensure we find a permanent solution to our nation's broken immigration system-- a solution that is practical, bipartisan and includes a workable path to citizenship."
