Today, Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) released the following open letter regarding President Obama's trip to Arizona:
Dear President Obama,
Welcome to Arizona. Like so many other states, our citizens have endured high unemployment, rising energy prices and a struggling economy. Hardworking Arizonans are finding it more difficult to provide for their families, find good-paying jobs, help pay for their children's college or save for retirement. Sadly, achieving the American Dream has become less likely for most Arizonans.
As you visit Arizona to discuss your domestic agenda and try to once again appeal to the middle-class, I hope you will announce your intentions to take four important steps that will increase jobs and boost the economy.
-Eliminate the burdensome EPA regulations that are scheduled to go into effect at the Navajo Generating Station and will increase the cost of energy and water throughout the State of Arizona;
-Repeal costly Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mandates affecting our local community colleges, municipalities, small businesses, and families;
-Approve the Transboundary Hydrocarbon Agreement with our neighbor Mexico to reduce the cost of energy and create good-paying jobs;
-Approve the Keystone Pipeline to reduce the cost of energy, create jobs, and protect our national security interests
The message I continue to receive from Arizona constituents is this -- get the government out of our lives, our healthcare and our businesses.
By taking these four steps we can answer their call for limited government and help all Americans attain the American Dream.
I look forward to working with you to make a better and more prosperous Arizona and America.
Let's put politics aside and get to work.
Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05)
