Chairman Goodlatte Statement on Confirmation of James Comey as FBI Director

Location: Washington, DC

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) released the following statement on the Senate's confirmation of James Comey as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Chairman Goodlatte: "James Comey has had an exceptional career in law enforcement and is uniquely qualified to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Our nation faces a wide variety of threats, including ever-evolving terrorist and criminal threats to our national security, neighborhoods, and economy, as well as gang violence, crimes against children, and cyber crimes. While today's diverse threats highlight the complexity of the FBI's mission, Mr. Comey is well-positioned to meet these challenges and lead the Bureau in fulfilling its mission to protect our country and citizens."
