Congressman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) today issued the following statement in support of H.R. 2009, the Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act. This legislation would prohibit the Internal Revenue Service from implementing or enforcing any provisions in Obamacare.

"If one thing is clear about the recent scandals surrounding the IRS, it's that they have abandoned any credible claim to impartiality. Giving the IRS more power and authority through the implementation of Obamacare is simply unimaginable," said Blackburn. "A further indictment of the IRS's credibility to implement Obamacare is the Administration's choice of Sarah Hall Ingram to lead the effort, especially after she oversaw the department that targeted and harassed conservative groups.

"The IRS's abuse of information and targeting of people for their religious and political beliefs should disqualify them from any new responsibilities. This legislation will keep the IRS from injecting themselves deeper into the lives of American taxpayers' while House Republicans focus on ways to repeal this disastrous law."
