Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Johnson (D-SD) released the following statement on the Senate's confirmation of Dr. Jason Furman, to be a Member and Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers; Ms. Kara Stein and Dr. Michael Piwowar, to be Members of the Securities and Exchange Commission; The Honorable Richard Metsger, to be a Member of the National Credit Union Administration Board; and The Honorable Mary Jo White, to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission for a full term expiring June 5, 2019.

Jason Furman
"Jason Furman has a distinguished record as a dedicated public servant and economist, and his confirmation today is well-deserved. As our economy continues to recover from the worst recession since the Great Depression, Dr. Furman's extensive experience as an economist for the National Economic Council, the World Bank, and the Council of Economic Advisers will serve him well as he counsels the President on overcoming our economic challenges."

Kara Stein and Mike Piwowar
"The Senate's unanimous bipartisan support for Kara's and Mike's confirmation is a reflection of the understanding and experience they will bring to the SEC. As well-respected staffers for members of the Senate Banking Committee, Kara and Mike will both be missed, and I wish them all the best."

Richard Metsger
"The National Credit Union Administration plays an important role in promoting the strength and success of the credit union industry, and Richard Metsger will no doubt be a valuable member of the board. Mr. Metsger is well-qualified for the role, and I look forward to working with him and the rest of the NCUA Board."

Mary Jo White
"Since her initial confirmation earlier this year, Mary Jo White has proven herself to be a talented, dedicated, and well-qualified leader for the SEC. The bipartisan support she received today in her confirmation for a full five-year term is a testament to her early success at the SEC and I look forward to working with her as the Commission continues its important work."
