As the 2013 National Scout Jamboree comes to a close, I would like to, again, thank you for visiting West Virginia, and extend my best wishes as you depart on your journey home. I'm so glad you were able to join us this summer to explore our beautiful State. A special thanks to the volunteers and sponsors who helped make this event such an exciting experience for our Scouts.

Throughout the past two weeks, visitors from across the country and world have discovered just how "Wild and Wonderful" West Virginia is, and the variety of activities and experiences we have to offer. Whether you tried rafting river rapids for the first time or flying through the treetops on a zip line, I hope you enjoyed your time in the Mountain State.

You don't have to wait four years to return to our beautiful hills when we will host the 2017 National Scout Jamboree. Starting June 2014, the Summit will open as the newest Boy Scouts of America High Adventure Base. Scouts will, again, have the opportunity to enjoy the adventures and activities unique to our New River Gorge region. And in 2019, we anticipate the Summit to be bigger and better as we welcome you back for the World Jamboree of Scouting--with scouts from over 160 countries--it's going to be an experience to remember.

I hope you had a wonderful time at The Summit. And I hope you return to witness as the mountains you explored this summer transform from green to brilliant oranges and reds or enjoy a weekend skiing on our slopes. I speak for all West Virginians when I say; we look forward to welcoming you back to "Wild and Wonderful" West Virginia.
