Congressman Carney today released the following statement on the Senate's confirmation of Richard Cordray as the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau:
"Today's confirmation of Richard Cordray as the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is welcome news for the American public. Over the past year and a half, the CFPB has served as a voice for consumers and has taken important steps to protect Americans from the harmful practices that led to the 2008 collapse. Having its leader confirmed by the Senate will enhance the CFPB's ability to offer strong, clear guidance to consumers. I look forward to continuing to work with Richard Cordray to advance consumer protections, and I congratulate him on his confirmation."
