Nunnelee: Farm Bill Provides Needed Certainty and Reforms

Statement

Date: July 11, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

The House today passed H.R. 2642, the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013. Congressman Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss.) released the following statement after passage:

"One of the worst things Washington does to our economy is inflict uncertainty. Economic growth is hindered when people do not know what the rules of the road are going to be moving forward. Agriculture helps drive the economic train in Mississippi, so failure to pass an updated farm bill would have a particularly negative effect on our state. This legislation provides much needed certainty, eliminates outdated programs, and saves taxpayers billions of dollars."

Congressman Alan Nunnelee represents Mississippi's First Congressional District. He serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Budget Committee. This is his second term
