Congressman Collins Reacts to Passage of House Farm Bill

Statement

Date: July 11, 2013

Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) made the following statement today regarding passage of H.R. 2642, the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013 (Farm Bill):

"Today's passage of a House Farm Bill is a critical step forward for the hardworking men and women of our agricultural community. This legislation provides farmers with needed regulatory reform and cost-effective programs while saving taxpayers money by ending duplicative and overlapping programs. Specific to NY-27, I am proud to have secured additional research funding for our land-grant universities, which provide critical support to our local farms and growers.

Today's bill is identical to the previous farm bill brought to the House floor, with the exception of the nutrition title which will be considered at a later date.

I look forward to this bill going to conference with the Senate so our farmers and ranchers can have the certainty they deserve as they work hard every day to feed America."
