Rep. Fincher Reacts Farm Bill's Failure to Pass

Statement

Date: June 20, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Stephen Fincher (R-Frog Jump) today issued the following statement after the House failed to pass a Farm Bill this afternoon, by a 234-195 vote:

"I cannot overstate my disappointment in Congress's failure to pass a Farm Bill. Today's failure is a clear indication of just how out of touch Washington is with the hard-working farmers across our country. This bipartisan bill would have provided certainty for farmers, livestock disaster assistance, nutrition programs, crop insurance, and would have reduced our nation's budget deficits -- things we all should support. Instead, the plea of farmers across the country fell on deaf ears."

"In no uncertain terms, the House has once again let down America's food suppliers by not passing a five-year Farm Bill. Simply put, this was a missed opportunity of monumental proportions."
