House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement in honor of Independence Day:
"As we celebrate the 237th anniversary of American independence, we are reminded of the importance of the founding principles enshrined in our Declaration of Independence, authored by a great Virginian, Thomas Jefferson. Generations of Americans have fought to protect the principles he set forth: limited government, free enterprise, and individual liberty. On this day, we remember and pay tribute to all of those who have sacrificed their lives to protect our country and its pursuit of those ideals. May all of us resolve to continue working together toward a freer, more secure, and more prosperous America. Happy Fourth of July."
