Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema released the following statement regarding the U.S. Senate's passage of comprehensive immigration reform legislation:

"Congratulations to the US Senate, who showed today that our government is capable of bipartisan action that advances the shared interests of our nation. Thank you in particular to Senators McCain and Flake for their leadership in crafting a balanced immigration bill that solves Arizona's immigration crisis and strengthens our economy.

"The Senate legislation addresses three issues critically important to Arizona: ensuring a safe and secure border, creating a workable plan for a future flow of immigrant workers into the US, and finally settling the status of DREAMers, their families, and hard-working families living in the US today.

"Now Arizona's families and our economy depend on the US House's commitment to a bipartisan solution. I call on my colleagues in both parties to put aside ideology and work to find a workable, practical and pragmatic solution. Arizona has been waiting for too long already; we owe it to our state to pass immigration reform this year. "
