"One year ago, the Supreme Court upheld the challenge to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Since then, the ACA has made a difference in the lives of millions of Americans, expanding health benefits, increasing access to care, and making insurance more affordable.

"Because of the ACA, over 6 million young adults have been able to stay on their parents' insurance plans, and more than 17 million children can no longer be denied health coverage. Furthermore, more than 360,000 small business owners have already utilized the Small Business Health Care Tax Credit to help them provide insurance to over 2 million workers. America's seniors have also benefited from free preventative care and reduced prescription drug costs. Starting in October, families and individuals across the nation will have an opportunity to enroll in health plans through the Health Insurance Marketplace, expanding coverage to more than 32 million Americans.

"Despite the historic gains made with the passage of the ACA, Republicans in Congress continue to work to weaken health care reform. To date, Speaker Boehner and the Republican leadership have held 37 votes to repeal the ACA, at a cost of more than $50 million. This is despite the fact that ACA's savings was nearly $4 billion to consumers last year alone.

"Making health care affordable and within reach to all Americans should be a priority in Congress. I will continue working with my colleagues to implement reforms that will improve health care coverage and lower costs for all."
