"Historic Moment" Says Ros-Lehtinen As Senate Passes Immigration Reform

Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) issued the following statement after the Senate passed a bipartisan immigration reform bill. The House is working on its own set of immigration proposals related to securing the borders and Ileana hopes that a conference report will pass after the House and Senate come to an agreement.

Said Ros-Lehtinen: "This is a historic moment in America. I am pleased with this bipartisan Senate vote on immigration reform that shows that Washington can transcend partisan politics for the good of the nation.

"I am hopeful that my colleagues in the House will also do their part to secure our borders and help find a solution for the immigrant families living in our country, who can create jobs and contribute to our economy.

"We are a nation based on opportunity and fairness for all and immigration reform is based on that."
