Titus Statement on Supreme Court's DOMA and Prop 8 Rulings

Statement

Date: June 26, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Dina Titus of Nevada's First District released the following statement today after the Supreme Court struck down the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act and returned marriage equality to California:

"With today's decisions, the Supreme Court sends a clear message that all Americans, gay or straight, are afforded equal protection under the law," said Congresswoman Dina Titus, a member of the House Equality Caucus. "Clearly justice and freedom have prevailed over intolerance and hate. I urge the Administration to move without delay to ensure that all couples have access to the federal benefits afforded to them."

"While marriage equality was restored in California, we must continue to push for full LBGT equality in Nevada and across America."
