End Late Term Abortions

Statement

Date: June 23, 2013
Issues: Abortion

This week, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1797, the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would outlaw abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy except in the cases of rape, incest, and to save the life of the mother.

The Kermit Gosnell trial brought to the nation's attention the grisly nature of late term abortions. Functionally, there is no difference between killing a baby immediately after it is born and killing that same baby inside the womb, and our laws should not make a distinction. Surely a civilized nation such ours can recognize the basic humanity of a child six months into its development, a child that can feel pain and survive outside the womb.

Strangely, in speeches offering effusive praise for abortion on demand, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi studiously refused to use the word "abortion." It is telling that the most ardent supporters of abortion cannot even bring themselves to say the word out loud.

My friends, it is time to end the horrific practice of late term abortion.

Stay in touch and God bless,
