Congresswoman Susan W. Brooks (R-IN) released the following statement today after voting in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2014:
"Today's vote gives our military the resources necessary to protect our freedom in an increasingly dangerous world. It also takes the right steps to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly at a time when resources must be used cautiously.
"Thankfully, the latest NDAA addresses an issue that has been swept under the rug for far too long: the prevalence of sexual assault within our military units. Common-sense steps that protect whistleblowers, provide victims with support and enhance efforts to prosecute individuals who commit these heinous acts are long overdue. Congress must continue to stand up for the victims of sexual assault."
