U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross (FL-15) voted in support of H.R. 2216, which would provide funding for the Veterans Administration for FY2014. His statement is below:
"Last Tuesday, I voted for H.R. 2216, which provides funding to the Veterans Administration (VA). This bill increases funding by $1.4 billion for the VA and Military Construction. These extra funds can be used to reduce the backlog of claims.
"I supported an amendment to this bill that transferred an additional $10 million from the VA General Administration account to the Information Technology Systems account. The intent of this amendment was to assist with the benefit claims backlog -- providing additional funding to this important cause. Ultimately, this amendment was adopted.
"Some people tried to force an extra procedural vote that would have stalled the entire bill indefinitely.
"I am thankful that H.R. 2216 passed the House and hope that the Senate passes this important legislation quickly so that our Veterans will receive the timely assistance that they have so honorably earned and deserve."
