Montana's senior U.S. Senator Max Baucus released the following statement today regarding the passing of U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg:
"Frank Lautenberg was a fierce advocate, an effective legislator, and a great friend. He will be missed dearly. Mel and I are praying for Frank's wife Bonnie, his children and grandchildren, and all the people of New Jersey and this country who join in mourning his loss."
Baucus served with Lautenberg on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. At age 89, Lautenberg was the oldest member of the Senate and the last veteran of World War II serving in the Senate.
