Today, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) released the following statement on House passage of two bipartisan bills this week to secure America, care for our veterans and fund disaster relief:
"I'd like to thank Chairman Hal Rogers and his committee for their hard work this week on bipartisan measures to keep America secure, care for our vets and fund necessary disaster relief. As we have seen recently in Oklahoma, natural disasters can strike without warning and leave entire cities devastated, so I'm particularly glad that the House ensured necessary resources are available to help these communities. As we saw in Boston, terror can also strike without warning, causing mass devastation, so funding preparedness efforts to thwart potential attacks is critical. These bills were crafted in a transparent way, received bipartisan support and reflects our commitment to responsible spending and oversight. Rather than threaten vetoes, President Obama should focus on governing and urge Senate Democrats to support these bipartisan measures and pass them as soon as possible."
