U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross (FL-15) joined U.S. Reps. Tom Rooney (FL-17) and Ted Yoho (FL-3) at an agriculture town hall meeting hosted by Florida Citrus Mutual earlier today.
"Agriculture is a lifeline for central Florida's families and businesses and serves as a vital food source for all Americans," said Ross. "Greening, outdated labor laws, and skyrocketing health care costs threaten the long-term prospects of this industry. We need to work together to protect Florida's agriculture sector and I will continue to put forth solutions, like the Legal Agricultural Workforce Act."
Background:
* Ross introduced H.R. 242, the Legal Agricultural Workforce Act on January 15, 2013.
* This legislation will provide for a new type of Visa, the W-Visa, to allow non-U.S. citizens to legally participate in the agriculture economy of the United States while continuing to provide protections for American workers and taxpayers.
