U.S. Representative Patrick E. Murphy (FL-18) made the following statement in advance of hurricane season, which begins on June 1st:
"I urge residents of the Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches to start planning and preparation in advance of hurricane season, which is fast approaching. This year's forecast is for "enhanced activity,' with above average probabilities for named storms (18), hurricanes (9), and major hurricanes (4). With that in mind, it is vital that all Floridians are prepared for this year's hurricane season. I also am working to form a bipartisan Disaster Relief Caucus to promote efforts that will lead to organized, streamlined, and timely responses to natural disasters, including hurricanes, so that politics are taken out of disaster relief efforts.
"As you prepare for the 2013 hurricane season, please feel free to call any of my district offices (Palm Beach County at 561.253.8433, St. Lucie County at 772.336.2877 or Martin County at 772.781.3266) with any concerns or questions that you may have. Additionally, please visit my official website to view additional information and resources to help you as you prepare for this year's hurricane season."
