Today Congresswoman Karen Bass (D-Calif.), Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and Ranking Member of the Africa Subcommittee released the following statement on President Obama's nomination of United Nations Ambassador Susan Rice to serve as White House National Security Advisor:

"President Obama could not have made a stronger choice for national security advisor than Ambassador Susan Rice. I'm pleased she has agreed to take on this next challenge at a time when so many dedicated and hardworking public servants have had their integrity and abilities unnecessarily challenged due to Washington's zest for trumped up scandals meant to score political points instead of doing what's best for the American people. She has been an exceptional U.N. Ambassador who was steadfast in advancing America's national security interests and in securing international support for sanctions against our adversaries around the globe. Ambassador Rice will be a steady and capable hand at the White House as we continue to promote peace and security throughout the world and successfully execute the fight against terror."
