Scalise: House Votes to Repeal Obamacare

Republican Study Committee Chairman Steve Scalise issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives voted to fully repeal Obamacare.

"President Obama's health care law has failed the American people by increasing the cost of health care, raising billions in new taxes, and forcing millions of families to lose the good health care they already have," said Scalise. "Even one of the lead architects of the law, Senator Max Baucus, recently admitted that Obamacare is a "train wreck coming down." This unprecedented government intrusion into health care kills jobs, reduces consumer choice, and lowers the quality of patient care, all of which the President promised his signature law would not do. Obamacare is yet another example of this Administration's string of broken promises to the American people, which is why I cosponsored the bill to fully repeal the failed law.

"To make matters even worse, leading the way in the enforcement of Obamacare is the IRS, which lost any degree of impartiality or credibility by illegally targeting Americans who dared to oppose political beliefs of the Obama Administration. Every day I hear horror stories from families and small businesses in southeast Louisiana about how Obamacare is leading to higher costs, loss of jobs, and in many cases the loss of health care for people who liked the plans they had.

"It is time to completely repeal this law, and get to work on the common sense reforms that lower health care costs and fix real problems like preventing discrimination against people with pre-existing conditions."
