U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-Ruston) today voted for H.R. 3, The Northern Route Approval Act. This legislation will remove the regulatory hurdles and legal roadblocks that stand in the way of the Keystone XL pipeline, a $7 billion private-sector infrastructure project that is set to create 20,000 new jobs and increase America's energy security.
"While this worthy project has been frozen in time for over four years, it is Americans who are losing out on great opportunities. The proposed 1,700-mile pipeline will produce countless direct and indirect jobs and lessen our dependence on unstable nations to meet our energy needs. If the administration shuts the door on Keystone, unfortunately, it shuts the door on these major aspirations for our country.
"Like many of you, my frustration continues to grow more with each passing day this project is further delayed. To restore confidence, the president should match his actions with words by adopting an all-of-the-above energy policy. Approving this pipeline will generate faith in the economy, show the world America is back in business, and put us closer to achieving energy independence."
