Congressman Spencer Bachus (AL-6) today said that as additional details about Obamacare come out, Americans should be even more worried about the harmful effects that the law will have on health care.
Congressman Bachus today voted in favor of a bill to repeal the health care law. Bachus' support of the legislation, which passed the House by a margin of 229-195, marked a continuation of his efforts to prevent the government takeover of health care signed into law by President Obama in 2010.
"One of the leading supporters of Obamacare has publicly used the phrase "train wreck' to describe its implementation and more accurate words could not be spoken. This has always been a risky big government experiment that will raise costs, reduce choice, and lower the quality of health care. The fact that the Internal Revenue Service will have a central role in enforcing the law should give pause to anyone concerned about the recent revelations regarding the IRS. The best approach is to repeal the entire law and replace it with common sense reforms that address actual problems in our health care system," said Congressman Bachus.
Bachus voted against the President's health care law when it originally came to the House floor on March 21, 2010, noting that it violated the longstanding Hyde Amendment prohibition by enabling public funding for abortions. He has supported numerous measures to repeal the law in its entirety and to block implementation of its specific provisions.
