Governor Maggie Hassan released the following statement today on the Air Force's announcement that they intend to base the new KC-46A air refueling tanker at New Hampshire's Pease Air National Guard base:
"Today's announcement that Pease has been selected as the primary Air National Guard base for the KC-46A is outstanding news for our Air National Guard and the State of New Hampshire. The men and women of the 157th Air Refueling Wing are skilled, they are war-tested, and they have proven that they are more than capable of handling the challenges of the new tanker.
"I would like to thank Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Kelly Ayotte and Congresswomen Ann McLane Kuster and Carol Shea-Porter for their persistent and effective advocacy of Pease Air National Guard Base as the premiere location for the Air Force's next generation refueling tanker. On behalf of the people of New Hampshire, we are honored and proud to have the KC-46A with our National Guard here in the Granite State."
Earlier this year, Governor Hassan sent a letter to Air Force Chief of Staff General Mark A. Welsh encouraging the basing of the new KC-46A air refueling tanker with the 157th Air Refueling Wing at Pease Air National Guard base.
