Rep. Bonner Votes to Repeal Obamacare

U.S. Representative Jo Bonner, R-Alabama, has joined a majority of the House in voting against Obamacare. Thursday evening, the House voted 229 to 195 to repeal President's Obama's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

"The president's health care law is not only making health care more expensive for many Americans and denying others their choice of plans, it is also threatening jobs and the economy," Congressman Bonner observed.

"The Affordable Care Act is turning out to be anything but affordable for many individuals buying coverage as well as small businesses trying to comply with the health care law's costly mandates. I opposed Obamacare when it originally passed the House and I continue to oppose it today because it massively expands the reach of the federal government while failing to achieve its promised goal of lowering health care costs.

"In recent weeks, even some of Obamacare's principal supporters have admitted the health care law could become a 'train wreck'. As we get closer to its implementation, it is increasingly clear that nothing short of outright repeal of Obamacare will prevent it from doing harm to our health care system and stifling job growth.

"I am particularly disturbed over the Obama administration's efforts to go around Congress, including reports of HHS Secretary Sebelius soliciting donations from health care executives and community and church groups to implement Obamcare. I have written a letter to Secretary Sebelius asking for an accounting of her actions.

"Americans deserve health care reform that lowers costs and preserves choice without harming the quality of our health care or the economy. Obamacare deserves to be repealed."
