Wednesday, Congressman Andrews announced that the Small Business Administration (SBA) has closed another loan that will aid in the expansion of a local small business and create 65 new permanent jobs. Earlier this month, Congressman Andrews facilitated discussions between Berlin water park operator Sahara Sam's and the SBA while supporting the company's application for the financing of a multi-million dollar construction project. Sahara Sam's was approved for a $1.89 million loan to expand its park and attractions. This investment adds to the more than $60 million of SBA loans awarded to Camden and Gloucester County businesses throughout last fiscal year.
Sahara Sam's expansion project began in October of 2012 and will wrap up this weekend at the park's grand opening. The new construction will add 8,000 square feet to their indoor water park, as well as an outdoor water park featuring a 12,000 square foot wave pool and a leisure pool, surrounded by a children's splash playground , a tiki bar, cabanas, and volleyball courts.
"Small businesses create 70 percent of all jobs and is the back bone of our economy," said Congressman Andrews. "Giving qualified small businesses more access to the capital needed to expand and grow jobs is paramount to helping our economy bounce back."
Congressman Rob Andrews has been an advocate for countless small businesses throughout our region who are working to grow jobs during this difficult economy. Rep. Andrews will continue to be a voice in Washington for programs that help to grow jobs and invest in our small businesses.
