Rep. Pitts supports bill to strengthen border security
February 10, 2005
Washington -Congressman Joe Pitts (R, PA-16) today supported the passage of H.R. 418, the Real ID Act. This measure would implement much-needed driver's license reforms, enhance border security, and strengthen deportation laws. Congressman Pitts was a co-sponsor of this important legislation, which passed by a vote of 261 to 161.
"Huge loopholes have allowed terrorists to slip into our nation undetected and travel unrestricted using legal identification documents. Today the House acted swiftly and strongly to secure our borders, protect American families, and see that no terrorist is ever again handed an official state drivers' license," said Congressman Pitts.
