House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement tonight after the House voted to approve construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline Project:
"Today the House voted to put Americans back to work. Republicans and Democrats voted to clear the way for the Keystone XL Pipeline Project -- just one piece of Republicans' 'all-of-the-above' energy plan -- so we can grow the economy and create jobs. With an economy that is still struggling -- and with the smallest labor participation rate since 1979 -- it is unfair for Washington to continue standing in the way of new jobs. That's why we voted today to put over 20,000 people back to work almost immediately. It's time for the President to stop talking about economic recovery and actually start supporting it. And he can start by signing the Keystone Project into law and jumpstarting an open, bottom-up, 'all-of-the-above' energy solution."
