Chief Deputy Whip Peter Roskam (R-IL) appeared on CBS This Morning to discuss this Friday's Ways and Means hearing were Steven Miller, who recently resigned as IRS Commissioner, will be testifying on the IRS targeting conservative groups:
On Steve Miller Testifying Before Ways and Means Committee Friday
"I would be disappointed if he takes the 5th Amendment. I think he's got an opportunity to clear this up. And look, the question that needs to be answered is, "who made this decision?'"
Ways and Means Investigated IRS Questionable Activities for Two Years
"We're also told, obviously, over a period of months in a dismissive fashion that, "these things aren't happening,' and "don't worry yourselves about this sort of thing.' No, this actually happened."
Roskam Statement in Advance of Ways and Means Hearing:
"The IRS tried to say this was one office in Cincinnati and we now know that is not true -- this targeting was system-wide. The ultimate question is what created this culture, this milieu, in which people at the IRS felt it was acceptable behavior to target people based on a political philosophy and ultimately to push a political agenda. Congress is determined to get answers and find out what the incubator was for this behavior."
