Kingston Votes to Repeal Obamacare

Statement

Date: May 16, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Jack Kingston (R-GA) today released the following statement on his vote to repeal Obamacare:

"Three years ago, Nancy Pelosi said we had to pass Obamacare for you to find out what is in it. Now we know: higher premiums, less choice, and $1 trillion in new taxes. Fixing America's health care system begins with repealing this law and keeping government bureaucrats out of the doctor-patient relationship. Recent revelations about the politicization at the IRS make clear that they cannot be trusted in one of the most personal parts of our lives.

"I support replacing this law with real reforms that increase access to and bring down the cost of care without growing government. That means reforming our medical liability system, removing government barriers to competition and innovation, and leveling the playing field for individuals, families, and small businesses when purchasing health insurance.

"I don't care if it takes 37 votes or 3,700, I will not rest until we repeal and replace this misguided law."
