Today, Congresswoman Karen Bass (D-Calif.) issued the following statement on the announcement that a national task force will be investigating a fire at Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church in South Los Angeles:

"My heart goes out to the members of the Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church during what must be a very challenging time. In our despair over the damage done to this more than 60-year old institution, we are grateful that no one was injured in the blaze.

"This is a time for the entire community to lift up this congregation as they seek to rebuild their church home. I'm pleased that a national task force will be working alongside state and local officials to determine a cause for the fire. My office will continue to monitor this situation and stands ready to assist in any way possible."
